    Pirate Skills The dash change is a noticeable QoL change, and the damage buffs are nice, particularly Double Shot was too weak.     Why change the areas? The original MapleStory maps are very wellmade, from the design to the mobs to the plot around the quests. There is an issue with limited amounts of content when you reach a certain level. We looked into the different areas of the game, and we notice that there are multiple areas with mobs of the same level, we felt like repurposing some of the existing maps that are usually skipped on, would be a good way to both fill the gaps in higher levels and highlight the original design. This post This post will cover the new areas imported, and the changes we made to the existing areas. Note that balance changes could still happen in the future, and also new areas are likely to be added as the players progress. New Areas We made an effort to import areas in a similar way to the original game, specifically Golden Temple is one area I didn't remember and had to watch videos from the old version to replicate the original design. Golden Temple: imported from version 86, quests were buffed and some mobs' exp was buffed as well. This area is a daily exp area especially good for levels 15-130. Ulu City: the area and Krexel were imported from version 91. Chryse: the area and questline were imported from version 96 and adjusted to be accessible at level 160. Changes to existing areas The changes were done where were we felt the areas were at a bad place, all areas listed below contain changes to the drops, quests, mob exp, hp and level to match the new area levels. Kerning Square: this questline at level 35 always felt out of place, as by the time you finish mushroom kingdom, you're already past level 35, and you have a few party quests you consider to do. Instead, we changed this questline to start at level 75, and with it the difficulty of the area. Ellin Forest: this area was changed from level 42 to level 100. At 42 and not too attractive with uninspiring drops, exp or quests, it was very empty. Now at 100, it is the prime place to be at, the area was extended with a few maps that were added in a later version that include the bosses Chao and Ephenia. Path of Time: the levels of the mobs in this area increased by 13-15 levels per mob, to make Path of Time fit players around level 120, with the Papulatus questline changed to level 125. Temple of Time: the mobs and quests in this area were raised by 20 levels, in effect, Chief Oblivion Guardian is now level 151 from 131, and now, Temple of Time contains many maps that are worth-while to grind on in the later levels.

    The Issues with Vanilla Items We felt that the original game's items were underwhelming. For example, the stat difference between level 80 and 90 gear was often just a single main stat, making upgrades feel unrewarding, especially with added stat requirements. On top of that, the best-in-slot shoes, capes, and gloves were low-level items, which made higher-level equipment pointless. Finally, the Maple weapons, which had no stat requirements, encouraged players to go secondary stat-less and use the same weapon throughout the entire early and mid-game, leading to a lack of variety and progression. The Changes to the Item System To address these issues, we've made significant changes to items, some were also as a buff or nerf to the class. Let's list them all: General Changes Chaos scroll can only add weapon attack between -2 and +2 for equips level 0-70, between -3 and +3 for levels 71-100 and normally (-5 and +5) for 101+ Removed secondary stats requirement on clothes, and decreased it on weapons Lowered the NPC sell price by 2x for all equips Maple Weapons are now 'Event Only' which makes them rare to come by Buffed stats of all job specific equips (except weapons) to make them worth the upgrade Added more color options to Pirate gear for variety and different stat options Dragon equips (lvl 110) can now be leveled up to gain some extra stats Reverse items are for level 150 and tradeable The stats gained from Reverse items level up were slightly increased Buffed the stats of Timeless equips and changed their level requirement to 160 Hats: Scarlion and Targa hats' stats were lowered to 7 main stat and 5 on the rest, as these bosses were changed to be level 80.     PQ's and Expeditions As with most game elements, we have balanced the PQ's and Expeditions to make them fit with the rest of the changes and with Exodus' progression. Most Party Quests give more exp now, and a small amount of stages were removed or changed. This post is a good opportunity to remind that equips dropped from bosses are affected by the godly system and can have higher stats than normal. Available Party Quests in Exodus Reminder: in Exodus, most Party Quests are available through the Dimensional Mirror NPC, from any town in the game. Henesys: 10-200 Kerning: 21-200 Ludibrium: 35-200 Carnival: 40-55 Orbis: 51-200 Romeo and Juliet: 71-200 Pirate (Herb Town): 85-200 Ellin: 100-200 Sharenian (Guild): 1-200 Amoria: 40-200 El Nath: 120-200 Crimsonwood: 120-200 Available Expeditions in Exodus Expeditions are the bigger bosses, that can be entered by multiple parties at once. They don't include smaller bosses (that are available in Exodus) like Pianus, Papulatus, Xerxes, Ephenia, Aufheben or Bigfoot. We have changed scarlion and targa's level so that they are a 3rd job expedition, we felt it was unnecessary to have them at the level they were, and with the helmets that were too similar to the Zakum helmet.     "Relive the nostalgia of old-school MapleStory, reimagined for today's era." What is Exodus? Exodus is a carefully crafted v83 MapleStory private server that brings back the golden age of MapleStory. We focus on authentic gameplay, where you are going to explore the Maple World, party up with new people and experience parts of this game you didn't know existed. Our server is built on the principles of fairness and fun. We believe that the journey should be as enjoyable as the destination, which is why we've implemented thoughtful changes to enhance the classic experience without compromising its core identity. History Exodus began in the summer of 2022 as a hobby project for a specific school, offering a clean v83 MapleStory experience. It quickly became a success, attracting many players over the summer break. When the school year resumed, the player base declined, prompting the owner and staff to address core issues and introduce new features. After extensive redesigns and improvements, Exodus reopened in April 2025 to a larger audience, reaching a peak of 90 concurrent players, and now, we're ready to share it with the world. What Makes Us Different? Our vision was to improve the original game, while preserving it. We believe that there is a lot of existing content in the old versions that is just not rewarding enough and hence is skipped in vanilla play. To achieve that, we manually visited and changed over 900 quests to make sure the reward matches the effort. We also changed entire areas where we felt they were not relevant, for example the kerning square questline now starts at level 75 rather than 35. Changing the quests and areas also means we had to change the items and mob drops, along with the skills. In this way we are able to give you a unique experience of re-exploring parts ofthe game, which we believe to also be nostalgic.
